VeriQloud had the chance to participate in the industry meeting of The Integrated Quantum Networks (IQN) Hub. Led by Heriot-Watt University in the great city of Edinburgh, the new hub covers most of the value chain of a future quantum internet as well as quantum-safe communication.
Here are some key elements presented:
- Components: new development of single photon sources, fast lossless switches and single photon detectors.
Entanglement distribution: implementation of multipartite entanglement. - Quantum memories: new memory devices to store photons, including research on rare-earth materials, ion traps and atomic clouds.
Space segment: the hub will have its own optical ground station! - Applications: new applications of quantum networks for authentication and new approaches toward practical device-independent cryptography.
We at VeriQloud totally agree with the vision of the hub. On the application side, the developments made by the brilliant scientists are beyond our expectations! Exciting times to come for quantum networks.
